This Privacy Policy explains what information The Arabic Guide (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use our website and student portal, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect only what we need to teach you, and we never sell your information.
1. Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password when you create an account. Your password is stored in scrambled (hashed) form; nobody at The Arabic Guide can read it.
- Profile: the display name and any other details you choose to add to your profile.
- Community posts and suggestions: what you write in the Community or on the Feature Request page. Other logged-in students can see these, together with your display name.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact support by email or WhatsApp.
- Payment details: see section 4.
2. Information created while you learn
- Which lessons you have watched or completed, and your progress.
- Your notes, favourites and playlists.
- Your settings, such as light or dark mode and email preferences.
This is saved to your account so you can continue on any device. Your notes, favourites and playlists are private to you.
3. Information collected automatically
- Login cookies: small files that keep you logged in. They are needed for the portal to work.
- Browser storage: a few preferences may be kept in your browser so the site remembers them.
- Server logs: like every website, our hosting provider records technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used for security and to keep the site running.
- Location check for Pakistan prices: when you buy at a Pakistan price, we look up which country your internet connection is in, using your IP address and a location lookup service, to confirm the Pakistan price applies. We use the result only for that purchase.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
4. Payments
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on our website. We receive only what we need to manage your subscription, such as your name, email, the plan you chose, the payment status and the last four digits of the card.
- Payments in Pakistan (bank transfer, Easypaisa or JazzCash): we keep the payment reference and any screenshot you send us, so that we can confirm your payment and give you access.
5. Services we use
To run the website we rely on a few trusted services. Each receives only what it needs:
- Hostinger: hosts our website and its data.
- Vimeo and YouTube: play the lesson videos inside the portal. When you watch a lesson, these services receive your IP address and may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies.
- Google Fonts: provides the fonts on our pages; your browser requests them from Google.
- Stripe: processes card payments.
- Email services: send account emails, such as password resets and receipts.
- Google sign-in: if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name and email address with us.
6. How we use your information
- To create and run your account and give you access to your courses.
- To save your progress, notes and settings.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To send important messages about your account, purchases and classes, and, if you agree, news about new lessons and courses. You can turn these off at any time.
- To keep the website secure and prevent misuse.
- To improve our courses and the website.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the services listed in section 5 so they can do their job, or when the law requires it.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law, such as payment records.
9. Your choices and rights
- See and update your profile at any time from your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information.
- Ask us to correct or delete your information, or to close your account.
- Stop marketing emails at any time.
Email support@thearabicguide.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you live in the UK, the European Union or another region with its own privacy laws, you have these rights under those laws as well.
10. Children
Many of our students are young. Children under 13 should use The Arabic Guide with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who may create and manage the account for them. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent’s permission, please contact us and we will remove it.
11. Keeping your information safe
Our website uses a secure connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored in hashed form, and access to student data is limited to the people who need it to run the academy. No website can be completely secure, so please keep your password private and use one you do not use elsewhere.
12. Students outside Pakistan
We teach students around the world. Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including where our hosting provider and other services operate. We take care that it remains protected as described in this policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for important changes we will let you know by email or in the portal.
